Town centre retail and leisure scheme

Rochdale Town Centre is undergoing a transformation. It is currently witnessing unprecedented levels of activity which will see capital investment exceed £250 million during the period 2010 – 2016. Major ground-breaking projects already delivered include:

  • Metrolink tram extension into the heart of the town centre
  • New Bus Interchange adjacent to Metrolink
  • New Library, Customer Service Centre and offices for 2,000 staff
  • New Rochdale 6th Form College. Ofsted “Outstanding” within 18 months. Hopewood Hall College remodelled and extended
  • Reopening of the former converted River Roch to provide much enhanced public realm

Genr8 is now delivering the final commercial element of the town centre’s regeneration, a new retail and leisure quarter extending to more than 200,000 sq.ft of modern commercial space, and including:-

  • 50,000 sq.ft Marks & Spencer department store
  • 22,000 sq.ft two level Next store
  • 6 screen cinema
  • 125,000 sq.ft of additional retail accommodation
  • 30,000 sq.ft of leisure/A3 space
