GENR8 DEVELOPMENTS has released new CGI images of the landmark Smithfield scheme – a project being brought to the heart of Hanley in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
The new images show how the finished development will look, following the completion of the 140-room Hilton Garden Inn and the 11-storey build-to-rent apartment block. They come as Genr8 today launches the brand new Smithfield website, offering people a greater insight into the project masterplan and where the scheme is headed next.
Works commenced on the hotel and apartments earlier this year, following Genr8’s appointment of Cheshire-based Pochin Ltd as main contractor for both projects. LIV has been selected to manage the build-to-rent apartments and RBH to manage the hotel, which Genr8 will retain ownership of.
In addition to the hotel and apartments, the first phase of Smithfield Stoke-on-Trent – which included 210,000 ft2 of Grade A office space – was completed August 2015.
1 and 2 Smithfield are now fully let to a combination of public and private sector occupiers, including Waterplus, Davies Group and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
The scheme also includes up to 60,000 sq. ft. of retail and leisure space and 3.5 acres of public realm, creating an exciting new mixed-use quarter in Hanley. Future phases at Smithfield will deliver further office buildings and build-to-rent apartments, and a multi storey car park.
Richard Ingham, Partner at Genr8, said: “Progress is really gathering pace at Smithfield and there has been significant advancement on site in recent weeks with the build-to-rent and hotel developments.
“We’ve been working hard to produce a brand-new website which more accurately reflects the calibre of the offering at Smithfield, and in addition to this, we’re delighted to share this new set of CGIs with the public. Hopefully, they will give people a feel for how impressive the completed scheme will look.”
Cllr Ann James, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “This is an exciting time for the city centre, with two ground-breaking developments at Smithfield rising from the ground, a planning application submitted for a new £6m Spitfire gallery at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, and demolition work set to start on the East-West Precinct site in a matter of weeks.
“We’re committed to supporting growth and investment across the city’s six towns, but also creating a stronger city centre with employment, residential and visitor opportunities.
“Having the office space in both Smithfield buildings fully occupied is boosting footfall in the city centre and supporting local businesses, and that will be further boosted with the opening of the hotel and apartment block. Having the new website and CGIs is another positive step to making this dynamic development even more engaging.”
The CGIs show an aerial view of the completed scheme, as well as the apartments, the Hilton Garden Inn and leisure space.
The current phases at Smithfield are due to be completed late in 2019. For more information, please visit www.smithfieldstoke.com.
