Genr8 (Rochdale) Ltd has scheduled a public exhibition of its Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure development to be held on Wednesday 14th September 2016 at No. 1 Riverside in Rochdale from 11am until 5pm.

Appointed architects TP Bennett and planning consultant DPP will be present to introduce Genr8’s detailed proposals for new shopping, leisure, entertainment facilities and car parking planned for the Rochdale Riverside development site which is in the heart of Rochdale Town Centre.

Following the previous consultation held jointly with Rochdale Council covering the Development Framework for the site and proposed development, this month’s exhibition will provide stakeholders, including the general public, with the opportunity to view the detailed designs for the development proposals, which will be submitted for planning approval soon after. This latest event represents the next phase in presenting the proposed design of new high-quality retail and leisure facilities.

Rochdale Council commenced demolition and clearance of the development site in November 2013 after the completion of the new transport interchange and bus station. The demolition phase lasted nine months leaving Genr8 and the Council to work up proposals and consult on the planning approach for the Town Centre East Area (now rebranded Rochdale Riverside). Rochdale Council has also recently commenced demolition of Telegraph House, representing the last part to make way for Genr8’s retail and leisure development which it intends to start in 2017.

Mike Smith, partner at Genr8 Developments said,

“We have consulted throughout this process and now is the time for the final detailed designs to be shown to the public before they are submitted for planning approval in the coming weeks. We hope to receive approval in early 2017 and we will then be in a position to move into the delivery phase of development so we’re really excited to be sharing our plans with the public this month.”

Rochdale Riverside forms part of a £250m regeneration of Rochdale town centre, with major new and refurbished offices, a museum and new ‘education quarter’ already completed. The new Metrolink tram route and new Transport Interchange and Bus Station are also operational and the new amenities are complemented by the recently completed revealing of part of the River Roch and the original medieval bridges crossing it in The Butts.

Kajima Partnerships is Genr8’s funding partner for Rochdale Riverside.
