Something exciting is coming to the historic city of Winchester.
Jigsaw Consortium, trading as Partnership & Places, a venture between PfP igloo (PfP Capital and igloo Regeneration) and Genr8 Kajima Regeneration (Kajima and Genr8 Developments) has been appointed by Winchester City Council to deliver a brand new regeneration project in the city centre.
A cathedral city on the perimeter of the rolling South Downs National Park, Winchester is known as England’s ancient capital and this development, a part of the new Central Winchester Regeneration (CWR) project will bring a sustainable mixed-use quarter to city.
Through its Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs), Winchester City Council has envisioned the new quarter to include a wide-range of uses including flexible work and creative spaces, food and drink offerings, a hotel and high-quality public spaces.
Plans also include a wide variety of new homes to suit people of all life stages, with a range of tenures available including private sale, homes for rent and affordable housing.
Jigsaw Consortium has built a team using the best creative talent in the UK, which includes architectural practices, urban designers, engineers landscape architects and specialist archaeologists to deliver the project. The consortium has also left room in its team to allow it to appoint additional local businesses and expertise.
John Long, development director at PfP igloo, said: “The whole team is truly honoured to have been selected as the council’s development partner for this project. We recognise the enormous responsibility and privilege that we have in bringing forward a development in such a historic city.
“We, and the incredible talent in the design team we have assembled for this project, will work tirelessly to make it a success, leveraging igloo’s internationally recognised Footprint® process to ensure a positive social, environment and economic outcomes for the wider Winchester community.”
Tamsin Traill, a regeneration director at Genr8 Kajima Regeneration, added: “We are excited to be working with Winchester City Council to deliver this extremely important project. The newly formed Jigsaw Consortium is a collaboration between market experts and in social and sustainable development and will ensure that we are able to deliver a truly special place within Winchester.”
