Three new brands have signed-up to occupy space at Genr8 Developments’ and Rochdale Borough Council’s new £80 million retail and leisure development, Rochdale Riverside.

Independent restaurant operator Loaded Burgers will occupy a 3,400 sq ft unit in the scheme to bring their signature “build your own” burgers, wings, waffle towers, milkshakes, plus a range of vegan options to Rochdale. Established in 2014, the gourmet burger restaurant currently operates seven sites across Liverpool and London and will be opening its Rochdale branch, its first in Greater Manchester, in early 2021.

Loaded Burgers will be joining the Rochdale Riverside leisure line-up, which already boasts the six-screen Reel cinema; Puttstars, an interactive mini-golf centre from Hollywood Bowl; and Heavenly Desserts, which offers the ultimate luxury dessert experience.

Daniel Christian Menswear will be adding to the scheme’s retail mix, bringing premium men’s clothing brands to a 2,000 sq. ft. unit at the development. The store will stock brands including Guess, Farah, Nicce, Gym King and Replay and will open in November this year.

The announcement follows the successful launch of popular retailer The Works in the scheme, which has reported a successful trading period since opening at the start of October.

These new signings mean the scheme is now over 86% let.

Lauren Gavaghan, Development Manager at Genr8, said: “These deals highlight the continued development of the retail and leisure offer at Rochdale Riverside.

“Loaded Burgers brings something different to the mix and is an exciting new concept for the region; whilst DCM offers a great selection of premium menswear brands.

“We’re pleased to see that The Works has traded well since opening alongside the existing retailers in the scheme and we look forward to announcing further lettings.”

“Our vision for the scheme has been – and continues to be – providing Rochdale with an exciting retail and leisure offering which will help to accelerate the town’s next stages of growth as we look ahead to the next development phases.”

Delivered in a joint venture between Genr8 and Kajima in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council, Rochdale Riverside comprises approximately 200,000 sq ft (60,970 sq m) of retail and leisure accommodation.

Rochdale Council Leader, Allen Brett, said: “These new signings are yet another coup for Rochdale Riverside, which has significantly enhanced our town centre as part of a wider £400m regeneration of this area.

“The fact that this development is continuing to attract new occupiers during a time of unprecedented global challenge is testament to the success of Rochdale Riverside, which has been working hard to keep visitors safe and has been really warmly received by our residents since its opening earlier this year.”
